The adventure touch paper was well and truly lit. Next, Jamie decided to run all the way, 5,000 miles, across Canada. If that wasn’t enough, Jamie thought he’d also tackle a whopping 210 marathon run around America.
These adventures weren’t all plain sailing though. Jamie was met with many precarious moments and scary situations – like facing off with a mountain lion, running across a tarantula covered highway and actually losing the tip of his nose to frostbite.
Despite these challenges, Jamie tackled them with good grace, grit and humour as he retained his trademark ’keep going’ attitude. This boundless enthusiasm is just one of the aspects that make his after dinner speeches all the more inspiring and entertaining.
Even when not gallivanting around the world on a bike or pounding the roads of North America, Jamie has smashed world records.
Take his 12-day static bike ride that earned him a place in the Guinness book of records (along with a very sore bum!), or the 7 day record breaking treadmill run that saw him cover more than 524 miles. These are just a few of the exhilarating and exhausting physical and emotional feats that no man or woman has yet to match.
